Govt places DDC chairpersons at with Mayors | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 6: The government on Tuesday again amended warrant of precedence to give ‘respectable’ protocol to newly elected chairpersons of the District Development Councils (DDCs) by placing them at par with the Mayors. Decision to amend warrant of precedence was taken following assurance given by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to the DDC members. On March 12, a delegation of DDC members had met Lieutenant Governor to resolve the issues of respectable honorarium and protocol. After meeting LG, all the DDC members and chairpersons were hopeful that their issues would be addressed because meeting was fruitful. They said that the meeting was held in a very cordial atmosphere and the LG has assured that all their genuine demands would be addressed. On Tuesday, the government has inserted additional section “19 A” in the warrant of precedence, placing mayors , DDC chairpersons within their respective territorial jurisdictions together. As per the new warrant of precedence the vice chairpersons of the DDCs within their respective jurisdictions, have been placed along all administrative secretaries, Divisional Commissioners/IGPs/ Chief Conservator of Forests and Joint Secretaries to the Government of India and Officers of equivalent rank Officers of the rank of Major General or equivalent rank. |
