Inclusion of 5300 DPs of POJK-1947 in financial package of 2000 crore demanded | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 6: The MPOK Refugees Welfare Society, Patiala has written a letter to Secretary to Government ,DMRRR, Jammu and requested that In view of the entirely changed circumstances in Jammu & Kashmir , the decision of excluding 5300 DP families of POJK 1947 residing outside the State of Jammu from the list of beneficiaries of Rs.2000 crore Financial Package for payment of Rs. 5.5 lac per DP family, should immediately be reviewed by the government as it is grave injustice to already tortured souls . This has made these DPs realize the step-motherly behavior of the governments . In the present scenario the decision and the deceitful silence of the government appears to be deliberate tactics to linger on /ignore the rightful demand of genuine families. Exclusion of these 5300 DPs was made on the lame excuse by the government that they were ignorant about these 5300 DP families residing in other States of India . The factual position is that all the " Forms of Declaration" ( D- Forms), Nominal Rolls and records of " Ex-gratia payment of Rs. 3500/- ) are still in the custody of Provincial Rehabilitation Office. The state-wise data had been submitted by this department to Standing Committee of Parliament which was the base of Report No. 183 of Rajya Sabha to mitigate the hardships of these DPs and making one time payments for their movable and immovable properties left in POJK . One Time payment @ Rs.30 lac per DP family was recommended by this committee. In this Report 5300 families settled outside Jammu were also included . It is evident from the records received in many cases of these 5300 families from PRO office Jammu that camp-wise record of all the DPs residing outside J&K State was maintained by this Office . Having hope, trust and confidence in extremely efficient efforts of the government , we feel that this is the right time to impart justice to these families whose registration with Commissioner (Migrants ) Jammu have already been started and many have got Domicile Certificates (who were already registered with PRO Jammu and had also received an ex-gratia of Rs. 3500/ per family in 1960-70 ). |
