Demand early start of helicopter service between Katra-Shiv Khori

Katra, Apr 15: A delegation of Hotel & Restaurant Association,Katra comprising of its President Rakesh Wazir,Sr.Vice President Virender Kesar,Members Rajinder Singh Manhas, Mangal Singh, etc. met Vice-Chairman Shiv Khori Shrine Board who is also Deputy Commissioner,Reasi, Ajay Kumar Sharma & Chairman District Development Council,Reasi Saraf Singh Nag wherein Asstt.Director Tourism Ambika Bali and other officers were also present, apprised him of various issues pertaining to Shiv Khori Shrine & Katra Vaishnodevi and requested them that the Helicopter service between Katra–Shiv Khori-Katra and ropeway at Shiv Khori be started on Public-Private partnership basis at the earliest which in addition to a big facility to the pilgrims will prove to be a big attraction to the Yatries and will boost the Shiv Khori Yatra in a big way and economy of Union Territory as well and no investment of the government will get involved because total investment will be made by the private investors and investors are ready to invest.
Wazir while speaking on the occasion said that the way the Yatra of Shiv Khori has increased from two/three lac to 20 lac in last few years itself shows that this pilgrim destination has got lot of potential and if its facilities are increased further it could go beyond 50 lac within few years and asked for consolidated efforts for that. He further highlighted that the Aarti of Shiv Khori which was continuously telecasted live on Mh Channel from last 3-4 years and which gave good boost to Shri Shiv Khori Yatra but from last 2 years is stopped and its live telecast be started at the earliest and process for the same including calling of the bids from Channels be intiated.
Wazir said that most of the economy of the Union Territory is dependent on the Yatra of Vaishnodevi and it be ensured that at no cost no further lock down is imposed on Katra /Vaishnodevi ji area and since 100% Covid testing of the pilgrims is done while they enter at Katra/Jammu Railway Stations vis-à-vis at Jammu Air Port and thus safety of the area is fully intact and thus at no point the Yatra of Vaishnodevi ji be reduced or stopped. The meeting among others was attended by Municipal Committee Ward member Rakesh Roshan,Amit Sharma,Sushil Sharma etc.
