JAMMU, Apr 15: J&K Government on Thursday extended till April 30 the closure of schools amid a continuing upsurge in covid-19 cases in Jammu and Kashmir. “All schools in J&K shall continue to remain closed for imparting on-campus/in-person education to the students of all classes (i.e., up to and including Class 12), till 30.04.2021,” reads an order issued by Simrandeep Singh, member Secretary State executive Committee. As per an order issued by Director School Education Jammu, the private coaching centers/institutes shall however be at liberty to provide the online education to the students enrolled with them till the time such guidelines are in place. “The Department of Disaster Management; Relief, Rehabilitation and Reconstruction and School Education Department, has closed all schools in UT of J&K for imparting on-campus/in person education to the students of all classes (i.e upto and including class 12) till April 18, 2021. However it has been observed that the private coaching institutes are continuously operating in conventional manner despite of clear orders/guidelines/instruction of closure of education institutions,” the order reads. The order has directed all Chief Education Officers to monitor the coaching centers /institutions under their respective jurisdiction and share the report with this Directorate on daily basis. Any deviation of the above instructions shall invite strict action under relevant section of the Disaster Management Act 2005 besides a permanent ban for institutions involved in violation of the instructions, the order states further. The decision was taken in view of the trend in new cases particularly the recent spike in the number of daily reported cases of infection in some districts of J&K, the order underlined. |
