SRINAGAR, June 6: Tehsildar Srinagar (South) Moin Kakroo has written to the police authorities to register a First Information Report (FIR) against a group of people who manhandled a team of Department of Revenue and stopped them to carry out their professional work in the Lal Chowk area here on Saturday.
In an application addressed to Station House Officer (SHO) Maisuma, Tehsildar Srinagar (South) has written that the team of Department of Revenue had gone to the Lal Chowk area to hand over possession of a property comprising 110 square feet to one Jan Mohammad Reshi, but the same could not take place due to the manhandling by some locals.
“This is to inform you that the team of revenue officials headed by Executive Magistrate 1st Class Srinagar visited the spot at Amira Kadal Lal Chowk to implement the orders of worthy Divisional Commissioner Kashmir and Deputy Commissioner Srinagar and demarcate and handover the possession of 110 sq feet to Jan Mohammad Reshi but some persons manhandled the team. As such you are hereby directed to lodge FIR,” reads the application.
The persons identified are Shabir Ahmad Bhat, Zahoor Ahmad Bhat sons of Ghulam Ahmad Bhat, Ghulam Rasool Bhat, Abdul Qayoom Bhat sons of Mohammad Sidiq Bhat and son of Shabir Ahmad Bhat. The team of revenue officials had gone to implement the directions of Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, P K Pole to hand over the possession of property to Jan Mohammad.
On May 29, 2021 Tehsildar Srinagar (South) had issued an order asking the Naib Tehsildar Kothi Bagh to implement the orders of Divisional Commissioner Kashmir. The Naib Tehsildar was asked to lead the team consisting of Jan Nisar (concerned Patwari), Farooq Ahmad (Patwari, Shivpora), Mohammad Rouf (MM), Bashir Ahmad Kanna (Settlement Assistant) and Ranbir Singh (Judicial).
The order was issued after Jan Mohammad moved an application for implementation of order dated 17-10-2019 and order dated 12-01-2021 for sealing the remaining 110 square feet from the ground floor of the commercial building falling under survey number 638/90 situated at Amira Kadal, Srinagar.
Talking to Early Times, Jan Mohammad said that he has been threatened by Abdul Qayoom not to take over the property at the Lal Chowk adding that he has been warned of dire consequences in case he went ahead. He said that Qayoom put a chain over the lock put on him apprehending that the things he had in the rooms inside might have been stolen by Qayoom and his associates.
