PCA conducts workshop on identifying fake news, misinformation | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, June 6: Amid a spike in spreading fake news and misinformation on the internet, Press Club of Akhnoor (PCA) today organized a one day workshop on how to identify fake news and misinformation and ways to fight against it. Archana Kumari, Assistant Professor SMVDU was the resource person on the top who enlightened the gathered journalists. The workshop was organized under the presidentship of Shakti Singh (President PCA) which was specially attended by SDM Akhnoor Chand Kishore Sharma, BMO Akhnoor Ashok Kumar, Naib Tehsildar Ashok Kumar. Addressing the gathering Archana Kumari said that the fake news has not only become a primary concern for the major countries of the world but also a big predicament for tech powerhouses like Google and Facebook. The event was part of the Press Club of Akhnoor efforts to equip journalists with tools to fact check and identify fake data. Club has started the initiative to guard journalists from falling prey to false news stories, the organizers said in a statement. Shakti Singh President PCA while speaking on occasion thanked resource person Archana Kumari for her very informative session. He said that this workshop will definitely nourish journalists of the area which will help them a lot to fight against fake news and misinformation which is very much trending in the present era. Shamsher Singh General Secretary delivered a vote of thanks. Others who were present in workshop included Rahul Dev Singh, Shiv Beragi, Rabia Khajuria, Vikrant Bral, Pardeep Jamwal, Aman Sharma, Mohit Sharma, Rohit Sharma, Ashwani Sharma, Rakesh Kumar, Ankush Dubey and Suresh Sharma. |
