Jammu, Jun 10: Prof. J. P. Sharma, Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-Jammu and SKUAST-Kashmir said that plants are the real essence of nature and during the Covid-19 period, we are realizing the importance of the plants more widely across the globe. He was speaking as a Chief Guest during the inauguration of “Plantation Drive” which was initiated by the Sankalp Boy Hostel, SKUAST-Jammu, Chatha in collaboration with CISF on 9th of June 2021. Prof. Sharma launched plantation drive by planting sapling of Mango (Mangifera indica). He emphasize the importance and benefits of trees in maintaining ecological balance for survival of mankind and appealed all to plant more and more trees in their premises and surroundings as well. Earlier, Dr. Sudhakar Dwivedi, Hostel Warden of Sankalp Boy Hostel and Organizer of the Plantation Drive welcomed Vice Chancellor and all other dignitaries of SKUAST-Jammu. Dr. Jag Paul Sharma (Director Research & Registrar), Dr. Bikram Singh (Dean, FoA), Dr. M. S. Bhadwal (Dean, F.V.Sc & A.H), Dr. S.E.H Rizvi (Dean, Faculty of Basic Sciences), Dr. S. K. Gupta, Controller of Examinations, Dr. Rajesh Katoch (Dean Student Welfare), Dr. Anil Kumar (Head FSR Centre and Nodal Officer ICAR) and Head of the different divisions were also present during the plantation drive. Deepak Kumar Pandey, Radhyshyam Kumawat, Sourav Manhas, Parmod Kumar, Shivdev Singh, Vibhav Anand and few other students also participated actively during the plantation drive. The programme ended with vote of thanks by Dr. Sudhakar Dwivedi, Associate Professor and Hostel Warden. |
