| Circular Road sinks, exposes Jammu’s development | | |

Jammu, June 10: Sinking of the newly constructed portion of the Circular Road has exposed quality developmental work in Jammu city. This incident has substantiated the allegation that in the name of development the officers concerned in nexus with contractors are compromising with quality just to earn money.
On Wednesday, a portion of the circular road was caved in front of the Baba Lal Chowk. Although there was no loss of life in the incident, this incident has raised question over developmental activities going on in Jammu city.
A couple of months back the Public Works Department had completed the work of making a ‘Danga’. After construction, the portion of the road was opened for movement of traffic. In the month of August 2020, the same portion was caved in and some vehicles were also damaged.
Highly placed sources said that during construction of the 'Danga' on the road, some locals had sought to draw the attention of authorities towards the quality of the work but to no avail. Instead of taking timely action, authorities preferred to maintain silence on this issue. |
