Camp on Soil Health Management held at Raipur Jagir

JAMMU, June 12: In order to provide facility to the doorstep of farmers and to acquaint farmers of Raipur Jagir Block Marh, Department of Agriculture production and Farmers Welfare, Jammu organized an awareness camp on soil health management and conducted on spot analysis of soil samples through Hi-Tech Mobile Soil Testing Laboratory with the aim to tell farmers as how much fertilizer they should use in their fields.
The camp was organized under the guidance of Director Agriculture Dr KK Sharma. A team of experts from District Soil Testing Laboratory, Jammu headed by its Assistant Soil Chemist Dr Neeraj Rajwal along with Research Assistant Dr RP Koachar, Dr Vaishali Bagal, Dr Pranav Chadha from Soil Survey wing of Department gave firsthand information on Chemical and Physical analysis of field soil.
Neeraj Rajwal made aware farmers about the importance of soil testing & use of balanced dose of fertilizer for restoring soil fertility & sustainable crop production. Rajwal said it’s an issue of serious concern that our productive land is deteriorating day by day and excessive use of chemical fertilizers over the years has been causing damage to the soil.
Speaking on the occasion Tajinder Singh, Member Kissan Advisory Board and a prominent farmer, emphasized the need for maintaining good soil health for better production and quality food. He appealed to the farmers to get their soil samples regularly analyzed and accordingly use the required dose of fertilizers, based on the recommendations as per the soil test reports.
Later on the soil analysis results were distributed among the farmers in the shape of Soil Health Cards by the team.
On the occasion Agriculture Extension Officer, Dr Tirth Singh Bhalwal, JAEO Dr Joginder Singh, Agriculture Extension Assistants Dr Julie Raina, Dr Vibhu Kapoor, Dr Devinder Singh Jamwal and Dr Rakesh Singh were also present.
