Sudheen Covid Care Centre: 2 rooms without any beds, other facilities | No funds provided to us for buying equipment, says lady Sarpanch | | Early Times Report
Reasi, June 12: The Covid Care Centre (CCC) at village Sudheen in Reasi district comprises only two empty rooms with no beds and other facilities. When the Early Times team visited the Government Middle School Sudheen on Saturday morning it found both the rooms kept reserved for setting up the CCC were locked. No staff member was present there nor could one find any washroom near these rooms. Sarpanch of Sudheen village Neela Kumari Sharma said, “We were told 15 days ago that a Covid Care Center has to be set up in our Panchayat. We were asked to identify the place and set it up. We were even told to buy the equipment and other items on our own but we refused as we had no money. We had asked the officials to provide us with the funds to buy the required equipment but they didn’t respond.” Sharma said, “Two rooms in the school have been reserved for the CCC. These rooms are empty. Even no staff has been deployed to run or manage this center.” It’s in place to mention here that Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha had directed the authorities to set up 5-bedded Covid Care Centers in every panchayat and Rs one lakh was sanctioned to set up each centre. “We haven’t received a single penny. These empty rooms are the only signs of the CCC that was ordered by LG Sinha, “the lady Sarpanch added. |
