Betrayal: Jammu farmers deprived of abrogation Art 370 benefits | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, June 12: Notwithstanding the claims of the BJP leadership, farmers of Jammu are deprived of the benefits of the abrogation of Article 370. Farmers, whose land was acquired for the prestigious ring road project was not given compensation as per central laws despite the fact that after the abrogation of Article 370, central laws automatically extended to the Union Territory of J&K. Aggrieved farmers are entitled to getting compensation as per ‘Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act 2013” The government has acquired land as per the J&K Land Acquisition Act-1934 which was automatically repealed with the abrogation of Article 370. Now the farmers in J&K whose land is being acquired are entitled to compensation under new law applicable in J&K from 31 October 2019, but they are being denied this benefit. All farmers are now entitled to get compensation as per Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act 2013. Farmers of Kashmir Valley has already on the warpath to get compensation as per central laws but in Jammu province leadership is not ready to provide any support to the affected families. The under-construction ring road would take off from Raya Morh in Vijaypur in Samba district and connect with Jammu Srinagar Highway at Nagrota Bye-pass. The 57-kilometer road would cover 44 villages of Samba and Jammu districts. The Ring Road with proposed width of 60 meters in plain and 45 meters in hilly areas will pass through Samba, R S Pura, Bishnah, and Jammu tehsils of the Jammu division. |
