REASI, July 1: Extensive information and education campaign was held today through Drum beating across Reasi District to motivate unvaccinated people for vaccination Jab here under the “Paanch Divasiya Vaccination Abhiyan-Abhi Nahi Toh Kabhi Nahi”.
Around 297 persons in the age group of 45 to 59 years and around 60 senior citizens above 60 years were vaccinated on Thursday.
The drum beaters across all blocks created awareness about benefits of vaccination and announced the arrival of the vaccination teams for inoculation of unvaccinated population in the age group of 45 and above.
Drum-beating as a mass communication medium is rooted in the culture of the area used to indicate an important event, such as weddings and festivals.
The Drumbeaters, through Drum beating, informed the public in advance about the arrival of vaccination teams at the outreach sites to encourage the people to take the vaccine dose.
The traditional method of drum beating to invite the people for covid vaccination has been used by the district administration to achieve the much desired target of 100% vaccination in the age group of 45 year and above.
