EARLY TIMES REPORT

REASI, July 1: A mobile free testing camp for commercial drivers was organized by ARTO Rajesh Gupta at Reasi to Katra today.
During this camp, around 150 drivers got their eyes tested and were also sensitized about the importance of following traffic norms. ARTO Reasi Rajesh Gupta said that 10 drivers during Mobile Eye Testing were detected for colour blindness and told that the purpose of this camp was to ensure that people with poor eyesight are not allowed to drive, especially in foggy conditions.
“During this event, those who had problems with their eye sight were asked to get spectacles at the earliest,” said ARTO Reasi.
Besides free medical eye testing camp, ARTO along with his team conducted an extensive checking from Reasi to Katra also.
During this inspection, ARTO enquired the passengers about the fare being charged and assured the drivers that strict action as per norms of Motor Vehicles Act shall be initiated against the offenders.
During the extensive checking, the team realized an amount of Rs 39500 against compound challans on spot for violating various violations under MV Act out of which Rs 4000 was collected for violating COVID SOPs and Rs 35500 was for violating traffic rules.
