Jammu police begins verification of wedding, event planners using drones
7/1/2021 11:38:22 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, July 1: In the wake of a first-of-its-kind drone attack at the Air Force Station Jammu on Sunday, police have begun the verification of wedding and the event planners are using drones to cover social and cultural functions.
Sources said that the wedding planners and event organisers have been asked to report to police stations concerned and share details along with their credentials especially those using drones to cover functions.
Rajouri district administration on Wednesday imposed a ban on the storage, sale, possession, use and transport of drones or any flying objects. "Deliberations are on between police and the administration over the registration of photographers, wedding planners and event managers," a senior police officer confirmed to UNI.
He said that initially, the verification of all such professionals has started and those having drones to cover functions, will have separate advisories. After Sunday's drone attack in which bombs were airdropped at the high security zone of Jammu Air Force base, drones were spotted several times hovering over military establishments and Air Force Signal areas.
However, to keep a check on civilians especially those residing nearby Jammu Airport and the Air Force Base, Jammu Police on Wednesday initiated verification of residents and tenants staying without registration. Police teams have also started door-to-door verification cum surveys in Chatha, Belicharana Basti Phalian Mandal and Nikki Tawi belts to gather information about the residents. "The Deputy Commissioner Jammu has issued an order that the landlords have to get the police verification done of tenants before renting the accommodation but people often ignore the directives," said the officer. He said that some innocent landlords face legal action or land in trouble because of the mischief done by the tenants.
Director General, National Security Guard (NSG) M A Ganapathy and Acting Chief, Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Sudhir Kumar Saxena also visited the spot on Wednesday to access the ground report.
The Air Force authorities have also installed additional flood lights and strengthened the security grid by enhancing air patrolling to keep surveillance on every moment around the base.
On Wednesday, the Ministry of Home Affairs had handed over the probe to the National Investigation Agency (NIA).
