Mayor, others kick start developmentwork of water body

Jammu, July 1: In order to maintain the balance of the changing atmosphere and to provide more eco friendly environment to the citizens of Jammu, Chander Mohan Gupta Mayor Jammu Municipal Corporation in presence of Narinder Singh Jamwal Chairman Health & Sanitation Committee JMC, S. Sucha Singh Councillor of ward no. 31 today, kick started the construction work of artificial water body near Sewerage Treatment Plant site Bhagwati Nagar Jammu.
Rakesh Gupta Superintending Engineer (UEED), Rajesh Sharma Assistant Executive Engineer, S. Hemdeep Singh Assistant Engineer mechanical, Sanjay Trishal Junior Engineer & other Supervisory Staff of UEED & JMC as well as Atul Bakshi alongwith other prominent inhabitants of the Bhagwati Nagar & its surrounding localities were also remained present during the function which was held in a very simple manner.
Speaking on the occasion, Mayor told that this prestigious project of developing a beautiful artificial water body is being undertaken by the dedicated engineers of UEED with an estimate cost of Rs. 15 Lacs only where sewerage water coming from various sources after proper treatment/ filtration at this site will be suitably used for plantation, landscaping & other allied purposes & it will be completed within stipulated time period.
Mayor further added than more than 10,000 saplings comprising of ornamental, medicinal, apples etc will be planted in this area by the JMC in collaboration with other allied departments to maintain eco friendly atmosphere & greenery near this upcoming water body so that locals as well as visitors can inhale fresh air while passing through the locality.
Moreover, the JMC with the collaboration of Urban Forestry Department & various NGO’s is also going to start a Mega Plantation drive from the next week of July during which all the wards of city will be covered by planting different types of saplings with the active support of all the councilors of JMC.
He also appealed to general public to cooperate with JMC in all the development & civic activities being undertaken, plant more & more saplings in their locality where sufficient space is available so that the aim of “Green Jammu Clean Jammu” can be achieved successfully.
