JAMMU, July 1: Concerted efforts are on to transform Jammu into a clean, green and serene city so that tourists who visit the place once fall in love with the splendor of this temple city and come again and again to quench their desire of getting mesmerize in this city situated in foothills of Himalayas. This was stated by Narinder Singh Jamwal Chairman JMC’s Public Health and Sanitation Committee after launching sanitation-cum-cleanliness drive at the road stretch starting from Narwal Crossing to Jammu Railway Station. “Under this drive the road and the adjoining Nallah will be cleaned and the area will be ‘polished’ in a way that it will give a magical glimpse to the tourists approaching Railway Station or other destinations of the city”, he said, adding that similar drives have been carried out in other entry points on the highway starting from Mahamaya Temple to Sidhra. The Chairman of the Committee said that the desilting work of all Nallahs from Narwal Chowk to Narwal Mandi Railway Station was also carried out to make sure that these do not inundate during monsoon season and wreak havoc in the areas from which they pass. He said that JMC’s Public Health and Sanitation Committee will not take rest until it achieves its target of making Jammu one of the cleanest cities of the country offering warmth to those visiting Jammu. |
