Close to Vijaypur, Mohalla Shiv Nagar sans basic amenities

Early Times Report
SAMBA, Aug 11: Ward No 5 Mohalla Shiv Nagar is just a few meters away from Vijaypur town in district Samba, however, despite being in close proximity with the tehsil headquarter this locality is still craving for basic civic amenities.
The condition of the link road as well as bye-lanes in Shiv Nagar is so pathetic that it is not only a daunting task for the drivers as well as travellers to commute on rough surfaced road but it is also difficult for the pedestrians to even walk comfortably on the dilapidated roads.
Local residents while talking to Early Times said that the claims of development in Ward No 5 Mohalla Shiv Nagar Panchayat in block and tehsil Vijaypur, are proving hollow on the ground.
They said as many as three former MLAs representing Vijaypur Assembly constituency remained ministers from time to time but all of them failed to ensure much needed development in Shiv Nagar.
"For the last more than 20 years, streets have not been upgraded while drainage system was also not constructed. Development or provision of basic civic necessities is still a distant dream for us. Claims and narratives of development by different political leaders and their parties are just a bundle of lies, nothing else," said locals, adding that the politicians never bother whether the development in the real sense did ever take place here or not, they remain visible only when elections are around.
People urged the Lieutenant Governor and the district administration to provide basic facilities like roads, streets and drains for Shiv Nagar so that the residents could heave a sigh of relief.
