Late night cleanliness operation in Doda town to start soon | DDC inspects civic works within Municipal area | | Early Times Report
DODA, Aug 11: The civic authorities in Doda town have been asked to start the late night cleanliness operation and begin with two wards and replicate the same in all localities in due course of time. “Start cleanliness in the night hours in two wards on pilot project basis and after reviewing the public response replicate the practice in the entire township” District Development Commissioner (DDC),Vikas Sharma asked Municipal authorities during a whirlwind tour of the town including market places conducted to inspect the ongoing works, besides to take the first hand appraisal of other issues. During the tour the DDC visited different municipal wards covering major areas of the town, including the old bus stand, Eid Gah Mohalla, Astan Mohalla, Nagri, Barath Road, Degree College, Ganpat Junction etc. While inspecting the clogged drains at old bus stand Doda, the DDC directed the EO MC, Ex En PHE and PWD to make integrated efforts to de-clog the drains. He asked to maintain cleanliness of streets as well of public places including market areas without any delay. The DDC also asked the Councillors to hold awareness programs regarding sanitation and cleanliness in their respective areas to promote community participation in maintaining clean streets and market places around and generating civic sense among the locals against throwing garbage in the open. The DDC also inspected ongoing works being executed by the PWD department at various locations. He directed to maintain quality parameters and simultaneous grouting of streets for the safety of the people. With regard to traffic congestion, the DDC directed the ARTO to sensitise the people living in the adjoining areas to utilise the parking lot and avoid road side parking. While assessing the drainage issue at Nagri, the DDC asked the Principal Degree College and executing agencies to resolve the bottleneck in coordination with the MC. The DDC also asked PDD to re-align the wrongly erected electric poles near Nagri JK bank branch which causes traffic jam. He also directed the SHO Doda to take strict action against those who are dumping the material along the roadside near Ganpat Bridge. The DDC was accompanied by President MC, Councillors, ARTO, EO MC, Ex En PHE, PWD, AEE PDD, besides other officers of the traffic and engineering department. |
