Public Grievances redress camp held at Basohli | | | Early Times Report
KATHUA, Aug 11: To get first hand appraisal of public Grievances and demands, a Public outreach programme was held at PWD Rest House at Basohli today. DDC Chairperson Mahan Singh, Deputy Commissioner, Kathua Rahul Yadav, BDC Chairperson Sushma Jammwal, BDC Chairperson Raj Singh, President MC Basohli Sumesh Sapolia, ADC Tilak Raj Thapa, Sarpanch, Panch and a large number of people were present. The issues raised by the deputations and individuals included shortage of drinking water, repair of road links, low voltage, shortage of Medical staff, defunc hand pumps and provision of Air Ambulance and Fire Tender for Basholi etc besides highlighting connectivity issues of BSNL mobile services. The DC, after listening to the public demands, directed concerned officers to ensure prompt and speedy redress of the public issues. He assured that all issues within his competence will be redressed as early as possible, while the other genuine demands will be taken up at appropriate forums for their resolution. Regarding the problem of defunct hand pumps, the Deputy Commissioner informed that funds to the tune of Rs 74 Cr have been sanctioned to the PRIs for taking up works including repair of Handpumps and other similar works. On the demands of shortage of staff in different units of Health and School Education departments, the DC said the matter will be taken up at the higher level to redress the problem. The DC assured people that the problem of low mobile connectivity in Basohli and peripheral areas will be taken up with BSNL authorities for immediate redressal. He appealed to people to continue to adhere to the prescribed Covid Appropriate Behaviour to minimise the chances of another Covid Wave. Speaking on the occasion, DDC Chairperson, Col Mahan Singh said Water Supply Schemes for Plassi, Plakh, Ghagrod, Jandrota and Plahi are nearing completion which will improve water availability scenario in the area. He said that a Power Grid Station is coming up at Dhar Mahanpur which will address low voltage and power scarcity in the entire area. The DDC Chairperson also appealed to people to follow all safety guidelines for Covid-19 issued by the authorities and ensure vaccination of all age appropriate persons. SSP Kathua R.C Kotwal said the Police has taken an initiative to train local young graduates to pursue their career in the Police Department. |
