| Thief arrested, stolen property recovered | | |

REASI, Jan 5: Reasi Police has arrested a thief and recovered stolen property from him. The arrest was made after a shopkeeper Ashok Kumar S/o Shanti Saroop R/o Ward No 5 lodged a complaint at Police Station Reasi that on the intervening night of 17 and 18 of December thieves broke into his shop near Ganesh Mandir and decamped with garlands decorated with currency notes worth Rs 12000. Case FIR No 243/2021 U/S 457, 380 IPC was registered and investigations initiated. Police team swung into action and suspects were rounded up one after another and finally zeroed upon one prime suspect with past conduct of stealing, Rakesh Singh S/o Dhani Ram R/o Thilloo at present migrant camp Talwara. Chase continued to arrest him, who was continuously evading arrest by changing his locations. Police team raided different locations and finally rounded up the suspect from Talwara and put him to sustained questioning to which Rakesh Singh confessed about the theft. On his disclosure, Police team recovered the stolen property, currency notes-garlands and tools used in committing offence. Accused is arrested and further investigation in the case is going on to unearth his links in other theft cases in the district. |
