Early Times Report

Rajouri, Jan 5: One of the Prime roads of Rajouri Town from Tariq Bridge to Old City got damaged around 20-25 days ago but the same has not caught attention of PWD as no repair/reconstruction has taken place in such a large time span.
It was only 5 days back when the authorities woke up from deep slumber and displayed a warning board on the road. But still the authorities have not taken the incident seriously as they are waiting for the tender process to get completed even when they could repair the damaged road on an urgent basis without tendering.
It is pertinent to mention that the same road leads to Court Complex, Post Office, State Bank, J&K Bank, Tehsil Complex and Old City but repair of such a vital road is not a priority for the authorities.
The locals have demanded and appealed the

Public demands immediate repair of the prime road
Deputy Commissioner Rajouri that keeping in view the urgency and importance of the issue, the repair work should be carried out immediately without waiting for the Tender process.
Only a few years back, a fire incident took place inside the Treasury Office Rajouri and people had to take this route to move to safer locations. If any unfortunate incident takes place now, people would be forced to face the consequences as alternative routes are congested and it is not possible for the public to use those routes in times of emergency.
Locals have reposed faith in the current Deputy Commissioner as he is young and is an IAS officer.
When contacted to the concerned AEE, he said that Tender process is underway and the repair cannot be undertaken without tendering. He assured that the matter would be taken up with the higher authorities.
