| Weatherman predicts heavy snowfall on Fri, Sat, flight operations resume, Sgr-Jmu highway reopens | | | Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, Jan 6: The flight operations at Srinagar international airport resumed and Srinagar-Jammu highway was opened for the stranded traffic after the weather conditions improved in Jammu and Kashmir following two-day wet spell.
Parts of Kashmir, including the world famous ski-resort, Gulmarg, Sonamarg, Pahalgam and other places experienced snowfall for the two consecutive days from Tuesday.
However, as the situation improved today, the flight operations resumed at Srinagar international airport.
Officials told early times that some of the flights got delayed in the morning hours, but later all the flights were operated following the improvement in visibility.
42 and 37 flights were cancelled at Srinagar international airport on Tuesday and Wednesday respectively.
Moreover, Srinagar-Jammu highway was thrown open for the stranded vehicles after two days.
The highway was closed for vehicular movement after shooting stones and mudslides occurred along the only road connecting the Valley with the rest of the States.
Meanwhile, the local Meteorological department (MeT) has predicted heavy to very heavy snowfall on January 07 and 08, issuing orange alert in Kashmir |
