Bhaderwah: 10 family members live in tin shed, PMAY an illusion for them
1/16/2022 11:04:30 PM

Early Times Report

Bhaderwah, Jan 16: Mehboob Wani and his ten family members have been living in a tin shed in a remote village in Bhderwah area for the past many years.
For Wani and his family Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana has proved to be an illusion.
“I have given a number of applications to the authorities to include my name in the list of beneficiaries under PMAY but my pleas have gone in a vain. No one wants to listen to me,” Wani said.
He said, “I am a daily wager. My earnings are limited, I can’t build a house. I along with my ten family members live in a tin shed and during winter season life becomes more difficult as mercury falls below freezing point.
I wonder why the officials have turned a blind eye towards our plight.
Let them come and see how we survive in a tin shed.”
Wani’s daughter said, “When the chill intensifies during night our mother and father light fire to keep us warm. But most of the time the chill is unbearable.”
Executive Officer of Baderwah Municipal Committee, Yusuf-ul-Umar said, “I was unaware of this case. Will ensure that Wani’s family is included in list of beneficiaries under PMAY and the first installment is released for them to construct a house.”
