Mahila Congress holds meeting to discuss prevailing situation in J&K | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Jan 27: Exhorting party workers to highlight day-to-day problems being faced by the common people, Jammu and Kashmir Mahila Congress on Thursday regretted that woes of people are increasing with every passing day but those at the helm of the affairs are unconcerned about peoples' plight. Addressing a meeting of the party workers at Jammu, J&K Mahila Congress president, and ex-MLA Ms. Indu Pawar said that all promises of the present BJP controlled administration are confined only on papers. The meeting, which was held by following COVID protocols, discussed the prevailing political situation in Jammu and Kashmir. In the meeting party workers highlighted issues of their respective areas and regretted that those at the helm of the affairs are adopting a casual approach towards peoples' day-to-day problems. Reiterating that policies of the Congress party are formulated by incorporating wishes and aspirations of all sections of the society, Indu Pawar said that by giving 40 percent reservation to females in on-going Uttar Pradesh elections, Congress leadership has taken a historic step. "This step will be proved as a milestone to politically empower womenfolk in the country", she said and pointed out AICC general secretary Priyanka Gandhi's 'Ladki Hun Laad Sakti Hun' campaign evoked overwhelming response in Uttar Pradesh. Pointing towards the prevailing situation in J&K, former MLA and Mahila Congress president said that J&K is passing through a very crucial stage and all the right-thinking people must protect the rights of the residents of J&K. "Democracy is a battle of ideas but in J & K the present regime is brazenly stifling dissent through oppressive means", she regretted.
