11-years on, Doda truck terminal nowhere in sight | | | Early Times Report
Doda, Jan 27: The pace of development in Jammu and Kashmir can be gauged from the fact that ten years have passed since the day the government started work on truck terminal at Doda. According to the officials Rs 3 crore were sanctioned for constructing the truck terminal in Doda in 2021 and the work had started. “The contractor who was given the work constructed one building and a protection wall. But after one rainfall the protection wall collapsed and the work was stopped,” said a source. He said, “Despite protection wall giving off the payment the contractor was released. No one asked the contractor the reason for the protection wall getting collapsed.” The source said, ‘Now another contractor has been allotted the work. He has spent Rs 72 lakhs to construct another building but till date his payment hasn’t been released.” At present two buildings exist on the site where the truck terminal is supposed to come up but there is no board indicating that it’s the site of the truck terminal. It has become a dumping site for the local residents and possibility of any terminal coming up at the identified site look bleak. |
