‘Dilapidated, potholed roads hallmark of J&K’ | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 27: The recent rainfall has led to many roads in and around Jammu city wearing out putting a question mark on the quality of material used for constructing these roads. “One fails to understand what kind of material contractors use to build the roads? The unfortunate part is that the Public Works Department approves these roads and clears the payments,” said a local. He said, “For the past many years we have been hearing that Jammu-Srinagar National Highway is being turned into express highway but a slight rainfall leads to its closure. Trucks remain stranded on the highway for days together leading to massive traffic jams everywhere.” In Samba district also traffic snarls have become a routine as the trucks remain parked at Pathankot-Jammu highway for hours together. “Dilapidated and potholed roads have become a hallmark of J&K they can’t change,” said an observer. |
