GDC Chenani organizes program on HIV/AIDS | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
CHENANI, Jan 28: Govt Degree College (GDC) Chenani organized a poster making and slogan writing competition on HIV/AIDS Prevention & Control under the aegis of its NSS Unit “Prayatna’, IQAC, Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav & Red Ribbon Club to achieve its shared vision of zero new HIV infections, zero discrimination and zero AIDS-related deaths. The students were educated about the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) as the virus that causes the Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS), a pandemic that is spreading around the world. Since, the schools and colleges are considered the key settings for educating the young students about HIV/AIDS and for halting the further spread of the HIV infection, such programs are organized by the College time and again to reinforce positive health behaviors and to alter the behaviors that place the young people at risk. The event was organized by Red Ribbon Club of the College under the guidance of Principal, Dr. Pragya Khanna. She highlighted the fact that the world is facing new diseases each day and Covid-19 is the latest in this category. She said that HIV continues to be a major global public health issue, having claimed more than 36 million lives so far. The main objective of the competition was to provide a platform for the students to canvass their thoughts as how they observe, perceive and reflect to the challenges in today’s scenario. |
