JK Police arrests 5 drug peddlers in Kashmir | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Feb 26: Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday claimed to have arrested five drug peddlers in Sopore and Kulgam and recovered contraband substances from their possession. A Police Party at a checkpoint established at Zindri in Sopore township of Baramulla district Crossing intercepted a vehicle with two persons on board. During checking, the police were able to recover 144 tablets of Spasmo Proxyvon Plus from their possession. They have been identified as Basit Ahmad Lone and Mudasir Ahmad Ganie, both residents of Tujjar Sopore, police said. In Kulgam, police arrested drug peddlers in two separate raids. A police party of Mirbazar at a checkpoint established at Nippora intercepted two persons identified as Bashir Ahmad Dar resident of Sadoora Qazigund and a lady (name withheld) and recovered 5Kgs of Poppy Straw and 4gms of Brown sugar from their possession. Similarly in another action, Police Station Qazigund intercepted a person during naka checking at Dalwach identified as Javid Ahmad Dar alias Jaani a resident of Berigam. During checking, police officers were able to recover 4kgs of Poppy Straw from their possession. All the accused persons have been arrested and shifted to respective police stations where they remain in custody. Vehicles used in the commission of crime have also been seized. Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered in respective police stations and further investigation has been initiated, Police said. |
