Inflated power bills trigger outrage in Anantnag | | | Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, Feb 26: Residents of Syedpora, Chek in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district have lodged strong protest against the Jammu & Kashmir administration over the lack of facilities. The residents are up in arms over the inflated bills in the village. The residents of the village said that they used the pay monthly electricity bill of Rs. 108 and the same has witnessed a quantum jump with the latest bill of Rs. 750 being served to them. The residents said that they belong to the Below Poverty Line (BPL) category and as such they cannot pay such a hefty bill. The residents said that they are ready to give up the power connection since they would not be able to pay Rs.750 as monthly power bill. The people also voiced concern over the other issues that include lack of road in the area and alarming unemployment among the youth of the village. |
