Forget pvt hospitals, Golden Card not working even at GMC Jammu | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 26: The much hyped Golden Card meant for the poor is not working at Government Medical College Jammu. The patients who are admitted in the hospital are being asked to purchase the medicine from the open market as the drugs are not available in the hospital. A man from Mandi Poonch has been struggling to get his wife treated at GMC Jammu, where he has been asked to purchase medicines from the open market. “My wife developed complications after she developed an infection after getting an injection in Mandi Hospital,” the man said. He said, “I am a poor man. I can’t afford such expensive medicine. I told them that I have a Golden Card but was told by the people at the drug counter that the medicines that are not available in the hospital I have to buy from the open market.” It’s in place to mention here that Golden Card holders are entitled for free treatment and medicines in the government as well as private hospitals. But this card is not working as people are being asked to purchase medicines from an open market. |
