Jammu, Mar 3: The people of Mehrul village and its adjoining areas are suffering badly due the damages caused to the road leading to the bridge as well as to the embarkment of bridge constructed over river Chenab.
Mohammad Qasim, a local resident told the Early Times that due to triggering of shooting stones and landslide in the area adjacent to the bridge in the vicinity of Pakal-Dool Power Project suffered massive damages as a result of which the local people are facing daunting task to reach the either side of the village.
“It has been 6/7 days since the bridal path leading to the bridge along with embarkment of the bridge was hit by landslides and shooting stone as a result of which the villagers were unable to get access to the essential commodities including ration” said Qasim.
Former Minster and NC Zonal President Chenab Valley Sajjad Ahmed Kichloo said that he had taken up the matter with local administration as well as the concern department, but nothing was done added that it seems that authorities are unmoved and not interested in mitigation of the sufferings of poor people.
Kichloo as the District Administration and LG administration to look into the matter since the same bridge is life line to the local inhabitants.
DDC member Tahir Masood said that he had also discuss the issue with R&B Department and said that the officials in R&B Department inform him that the damages to the bridge are massive and they required to go through proper tendering process for repairments to the damaged bridge.
“I hope for early start of the work need to be taken on fast track- we can’t make people to suffer on account of one or other formalities” said DDC member.
