Unable to improve power supply in Jammu, Power Deptt hides failures in shutdown!
3/3/2022 11:37:50 PM

Early Times Report

Jammu, Mar 3: Unable to improve power supplies in Jammu, which is bearing the brunt of “pesky power cuts”, the power department seems to be hiding its alleged failures by opting for shutdowns more often than before.
In the last two to three months, Jammu apart from bearing with undeclared power cuts has been a “victim” of frequent power shutdowns.
Almost every week, there was a power shutdown in Jammu. But now, the Jammu Power Development Corporation Limited(JPDCL) has spoken about more dark days ahead.
As per the JKDCL, power supply to Sheetli, Part of Sidhra, Bamyal, MES Nagrota, PHE Sheetli and adjoining areas remained affected on March 3 from 10 am to 4 pm.
Similarly, the power supply to Patoli, Brahmana, Domana, Barnai, Mishriwala, Purkhoo, Baba Talab, Shamachak, Gurha Singhu, Batera, Dabbin, Chorpur, Manyal, Dharmkhu, TirthTalab, GREF, Gumpul, Sua No.1, Garkhal and adjoining areas will remain affected on March 3 and 5 from 10 am to 4 pm.
Likewise, the power supply to 33 KV feeders, Medical, Shakti nagar and Co-Bagh shall remain affected on March 5 from 9 am to 2 pm.
Similarly, the power supply to 33 KV Feeders, Janipur, Subash Nagar and News Sectt shall remain affected on March 6 from 9 am to 2 pm.
Official sources said power supply to Logate Industrial area, PHE and adjoining areas shall remain affected on March 03 and 04 from 9 am to 2 pm.
Similarly, the power supply to Bari Brahmana Town, Teli Basti, Dyansar, Kartholi, Birpur Complex and adjoining areas shall remain affected on March 04, 06 and 08 from 9 am to 4 pm.
Sources in the Power department said the power shutdowns were being frequently announced to “essentially hide the failure of the administration to provide uninterrupted power supply to Jammuites.”
“Basically there are several issues including shortage of engineering staff but one official on deputation, who is calling the shots, is asking us to hide the inefficiency in the grab of stunts like power shutdowns. Otherwise when in the past would Jammu witness such power cuts on one pretext or the other,” the official said on the condition of anonymity.
When contacted a senior official however said shutdowns were being done for maintenance of the power resources and to improve the supplies.
