Body of missing soldier found in Budgam | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, Mar 10: Three days after going missing, body of a Kashmiri soldier was found in central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Thursday. Officials said the body of 28-year-old Sameer Ahmad Malla of the Army’s 5 J&K Light Infantry (JAKLI) regiment, was found in an orchard between Lubral and Dalwach in Khag area. Police said they are investigating the case and are looking at both militancy as well as crime angles. Inspector General of Police, Kashmir Vijay Kumar said “no mark of firearm injury” was found on his body. “Investigation is going on. We are looking into both aspects, terror crime & murder,” Kumar said. Malla, a resident of Lokipora Khag, was posted in Jammu and was on leave since February 19 and on Monday evening he left home and was missing. After he went missing, his family suspected that he may have been abducted by militants. Malla was recruited in the Territorial Army in 2017. A year later Malla was in the news for allegedly driving Major Leetul Gogoi and a local girl to a hotel in Srinagar. Major Gogoi and Malla were detained briefly by Jammu and Kashmir Police. After a Court Martial, Major Gogoi was demoted and exit from Kashmir Valley for “fraternising” with a local woman. In April 2017 Major Gogoi, was accused of using a local youth in Budgam district as a human shield to avoid stone pelting during bypoll elections . |
