People ferry patient on back for 10 Kms to reach nearest hospital | | | Asif Iqbal Naik Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 10: The crippled health infrastructure in remote areas of Jammu and Kashmir once again raise many questions on the government preparedness to tackle the emergency situation in remote areas of the Union Territory that are facing problems on account of non availability of health facilities and in one such latest tale of horror, the people ferry the patient namely Prem Raj, a resident of Batwas Tun in remote Gandhari Panchayat of Padder sub division in Kishtwar District almost 10 KM downhill track with half of it cover with snowfall to nearest hospital, but unfortunately after traveling 10 KM with patient on its back, beside cover the distance through vehicle to reach Gulabgard Hospital at Sub Divisional Headquarter, these people allegedly find no help from the nearby hospital as well and was force to shift the patient to Jammu. “We have requested the administration to air lift the patient- But nothing was done” said local Vinod Thakur. Thakur said that patient Prem Raj is also a handicapped and they people faces daunting task to shift him upto nearby road side added that due to the non availability of road and basic health infrastructure in the area, the people were left at the mercy of the God. He urged upon the government and local administration to ensure the construction of road and posting a doctor in the area. “Our hospital status has recently been upgraded- but till now - no doctor has been posted and the health facility is being run by a pharmacist” said Thakur. |
