Over 70 years: Sudheen villagers still struggling for road connectivity | | | AJAY SHARMA Early Times Report REASI, Mar 10: Deflating the tall claims of the successive governments of development in erstwhile State of Jammu and Kashmir, a far flung village in district Reasi still has no road connectivity. Talking to the Early Times, a group of locals from village Sudheen ward No 6, Tehsil Pouni and district Reasi maintained that they have been struggling to get a commutable road for more than 70 years. "Our children are facing problems, our women are facing problems and one and all in this village is facing problems due to no road connectivity," said locals, adding that the situation becomes more problematic when there is some health emergency. They said that the village that houses the Scheduled Tribe Community is around 4 kilometers distant from the main road. "It becomes very difficult for the villagers to reach the main road in time, as poor road connectivity from the village to main road is pathetic," said villagers, adding that they have approached the concerned authorities time and again, but as of now their requests remained unheard. They have appealed to the Lieutenant Governor to instruct the concerned authorities to provide road connectivity to the village, as it is the basic need of the villagers. Meanwhile, when contacted Executive Engineer-Janak Raj expressed his ignorance of the matter and said that he will look into the matter and try to provide them with road connectivity. However, a local panch, Mohammad Aslam flanked by villagers, has decided to write to the Lieutenant Governor in this regard, if their demand is not met. |
