Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Apr 28: This year 62 militants have been killed in various gunfights in Kashmir and 15 out of them were foreigners, Inspector General of Police, Kashmir Vijay Kumar said on Thursday. Majority among the killed were affiliated with Pakistan based Lashkar-e-Toiba. The senior Police officer said 39 militants of Lashker, 15 from Jaish-e-Mohammad , six from Hizb-ul-Mujahideen and two from Al-Badr were killed during gunfights. "Among the total 62 killed terrorists, 47 were local terrorists & 15 #foreign terrorists," a tweet quoting IGP said. In another tweet Kumar said the surviving rate of local militants is drastically decreasing. It said out of 62 militants killed, 32 were killed within just three months of their joining ranks. "Due to enhanced #Humint (human intelligence), #Techint (technical input) & focused #operations, the surviving rate of #terrorists is drastically decreasing. The stepped up anti militancy operations are happening ahead of the annual Amarnath Yatra which is taking place physically after a gap of two years. This year a historic 6-8 lakh pilgrims will take part in this year's Amarnath Yatra and take darshan of the Shiva Lingam at the cave shrine in south Kashmir's Anantnag district. |
