JAMMU, Apr 28: Making their presence felt in expressing resentment against the unscheduled power cuts, a group of school going children staged a unique protest 'Bachcha Bijli Andolan' here. Raising slogans against the power outages, the school children made a fervent appeal to the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to ensure proper electricity supply. “We are unable to sleep, eat or study properly due to frequent power cuts. We urge LG to provide us non-stop power or else give us your residential address so that we can move there and enjoy uninterrupted power and water supplies. I also request the Child Welfare Committee to support us,” a girl child said. While a little boy said that due to frequent and long power cuts during night hours, school going children like him are unable to wake up in the morning because of which they are not reaching schools in time. It is worthwhile to mention here that the entire J&K has been grappling with an unprecedented power crisis for the last 15 days which has led to a series of protests in every nook and corner of the Union Territory. People are facing about 12-hours of cuts in such scorching heat. |
