Jal Shakti Deptt leaves 900 land owners in lurch | Acquires land forgets to compensate, provide them with jobs | | Early Times Report
Jammu, May 1: More than 900 land owners in Jammu and Kashmir who had given their land to Jal Shakti Department have been awaiting compensation for the past many years. According to the details available with Early Times when the department had acquired their land they were promised that they would be given government jobs and they would also get compensation. The process of acquiring the land commenced in the 1970s and since then it has been going on. The number of people whose land has been acquired by the Jal Shakti Department has swelled along with the passage of time. Sources said that the government has not been able to take a decision on how to compensate these land owners. “As on date these land owners neither have land, nor were they given any monetary compensation, nor have they got the promised jobs. They have been left in a lurch and they don’t know where to go,” they added. |
