AAP holds protest against frequent power cuts, erratic water supply | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, May 1: Expressing serious concern over the worst ever power crisis and irregular water supply in almost the entire Jammu region, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) held a massive protest here today. Lodging a strong protest, the AAP leaders said the power crisis has deepened to an unbearable extent while the Power Development Department (PDD) has failed to look into the main problem which mostly surfaces during summer season. Shouting slogans against the government, the protesters said that the administration seems to be in no mood to address the pervasive power crisis in Jammu with demand touching new heights amid the Government’s inaction and failure on the ground. The protesters said that the people are irate against the government especially the PDD which has failed to ensure smooth power supply to their households. The protestors said present curtailment has created a mess in normal life. The farmers are also facing utter difficulties as they don’t get the power supply for pump sets despite paying hefty power bills. Moreover, the routine snapping of power has also affected the water supply in most of the localities in Jammu city due to which people are subjected to double whammy of no electricity and water, the protesters said. Several areas are reeling under severe power crisis. Despite the installation of smart meters the government failed to fulfill its commitment in providing round the clock power supply in these areas, they added. |
