Accounts Deptt of GMC&H releases salary of Medico without approval of extension Amount recovered after ET's intervention 9/23/2016 11:13:29 PM Early Times Report Jammu, Sept 23: The accounts department of the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMC&H) Jammu clandestinely released salary of influential 'Assistant Surgeon' appointed under SRO 384 while other Assistant Surgeons appointed under the same SRO were not paid their salaries for last three months because of non renewal of extension. Reliable Sources in the GMC&H told Early Times that it is not first incident in the hospital when a blue eyed doctor got special privilege from the higher ups of the hospital and genuine employees were ignored. Sources further told that the tenure of the said assistant surgeon whose salary was released got expired in the month of May and renewal for the extension is yet to be approved. "Salaries of all the Assistant Surgeons were stopped as their tenures got expired and the files for renewal of their extension is gathering dust in the Secretariat for last several months", sources said, adding that the tenure of blue eyed doctor expired in the month of May but his salary was released without getting extension from the concerned authority. Sources claimed that rules and regulation were just for those who had no political backing and the politically affluent were enjoying special privileges in the hospital. Interestingly, some officials in the administration of the hospital are openly backing the influential assistant surgeon. "It show the real image of the administration of the hospital and higher up of the Health and Medical Education department who have never taken action against the misdeeds of the hospital administration till date", Sources alleged and added that H&ME department always shuts its eyes to irregularities in GMC&H Jammu. Chief Accounts officer, GMC&H when contacted said that she can speak only after verification of the facts.
