9/23/2016 11:24:12 PM

Early Times Report
anantnag, Sept 23: Throwing official orders to winds, a police officer of SDPO rank in this southern district continues to occupy a JKTDC hut at Pahalgam- hired during 2016 Amarnath Yatra.
Official sources said that the officer, instead of looking after the prevailing law and order situation in violence affected areas, continues to stay at hut dehired by the police department last month.
"Police department had hired few JKTDC huts at Pahalgam for accommodation of some officers and establishment of some essential units at Pahalgam. While most of the officers have vacated them but one of them haven't so far," a JKTDC official pleading not be named said.
He said that police officer was illegally staying in the hut. "In case of fire or any other untoward incident, we will be answerable and liable before the higher ups but the officer who is putting our employment at risk seems unconcerned about it," he added. Interestingly, SSP, Anantnag, had issued an order on August 17, 2016 in this regard. "JKTDC huts were hired at Pahalgam during (Amarnath Ji Yatra) for accommodation of officers of police and PMF as well as establishment of essential units shall be deemed dehired from August 20, 2016," reads the order of which a copy lies with Early Times.
JKTDC Managing Director Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, when contacted, contradicted with the order issued by SSP Anantnag. "No, our contract with police department is up to September 30," MD JKDTC said when he was asked how the police officer 'continues to occupy the hut at Pahalgam. The police officer wasn't available for a comment.
