Woman dies of 'cardiac arrest', probe ordered

kulgam, Feb 18: A middle aged woman and mother of police constable died due to heart attack allegedly after security forces cordoned off the village Chedura of Wutalhama. Meanwhile Deputy Commissioner, Kulgam, has ordered the probe into the incident.
According to sources a middle aged woman, Nazira Banoo (45) wife of late Ali Mohammad Dar of Chedura, Wutalhama reportedly died after she felt panicked during the a joint search operation of SOG and army conducted the overnight search operation in the village. 'The operation was started after receiving inputs of presence of LeT top militant Abu Qasim and searched several houses including the house of deceased lady at around 11: 30 pm, sources said.
Pertinently two sons of the three sons of the deceased namely as Shahheen Ahmad Dar and Sartaj Ahmad Dar presently are working in Jammu Kashmir police as constables while as the younger one Ishtiya Ahmad Dar is studying.
As soon as the news of the death of woman spread in the area this morning hundreds of people from different villages of the area rushed to the village and staged protests. Sources later added local authorities in order to control the situation clamped prohibitory restrictions in the area.
While police categorically denied the involvement of the forces into the incident saying the woman died of cardiac failure after they raided the neighbouring house, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) Defence, Kashmir Col J S Brar also ruled out any sort of operation as reported by a section of locals and said, "forces didn't searched the house of deceased as it was out of cordoned area, however when the forces came to know about the illness of the lady they offered them help on humanitarian grounds and evacuated immediately to a medico living in close vicinity."
Meanwhile Deputy Commissioner, Kulgam, has ordered the probe into the incident and has directed Additional deputy commissioner to submit the report within a week.
