‘Disciplined’ leaders wash dirty linen in public | BJP's new president triggers infighting | | Early Times Report Jammu, Feb 18: Following appointment of Jugal Kishore as BJP president has triggered infighting in the party and the otherwise `disciplined' lot is out on the streets to wash dirty linen in public. During workers meeting which was held at Jammu on Sunday, Jugal Kishore's predecessor, Shamsher Singh Manhas made it a point to settle scores with the new team. Manhas attacked the present leadership for its failure to strengthen party at grass root level. In an attempt to undermine the membership drive conducted by the present team, Manhas said that presently BJP has only one lakh members in the State which, he said, was not sufficient to win even some Assembly seats. "I do not know how our party leaders are claiming that they have started preparations for the coming Lok Sabha elections", he mentioned and in the presence of all senior leaders Manhas made it clear that party is not in a position to win Lok Sabha elections due to poor organizational setup. To substantiate this argument, Shamsher Singh Manhas said that even for managing all polling booths for Lok Sabha elections, party should have strength of more than 90,000 workers but the BJP in the State only has one lakh workers so it is not possible to manage even all polling booths. Actually Manhas has been sulking over the way he was sidelined in the party affairs. Manhas, who is close to national organization secretary of the party Ram Lal, had tried his best to get second term but failed in his efforts. Some senior party leaders, who were once close to him, sabotaged his second term so Manhas has been sulking and waiting every opportunity to attack the present team headed by Jugal Kishore Sharma. Further more, new team has also sidelined all his supporters and assigned them low key affairs. Satish Sharma and Sat Sharma, who were close aide of Manhas were sidelined by the new team. |
