BJP's resolution on reservation of 3 seats for Hindus of Kashmir
Has party deviated from its earlier political stand ......?

early times report
Jammu, Feb 2: In what can be seen as mere gimmick to have the community by its side and consolidate on whatever political potential the latter has, state unit of BJP has come up a demand of keeping three seats reserved for internally displaced Hindus of Kashmir in the state Assembly, ostensibly from the kitty of 46 in Valley. The demand is both impractical and untenable, unpalatable to even those for whom it has been made. The moot question remains has BJP rake up this reservation demand as poll gimmick to garner sympathies of the entire community for its own benefits or this is simply a lollypop to keep the community divided in the political arena of state when the two regional parties have also started wooing the Hindus, particularly Kashmiri Pandits...? The larger picture in raising this demand in one of the political resolutions in just concluded party executive at Kathua only shows that party has deviated from its earlied stand on the political aspirations
of Hindus from Kashmir- creating congenial conditions back in Valley for dignified and safe return of the minority community .
Sources within the party said even as other resolutions adopted in the executive meet of party at Kathua on the concluding day have augured well with the communities and sections of society party leadership has covered but this one in asking for 3 seats to be kept reserved for Hindus from Kashmir Valley in Assembly has not gone well in the political corridors, not even among the community for which it has sought. It looks shallow and hollow , more of a rhetoric which shall have no wings in the state , said a leader of the party. The demand has not evoked a positive response from within the party leaders who differ on it for some arguments, he said adding that instead of overwhelming response from the community, the issue has caused more of resentment in some quarters who look at it as just a lollipop to keep the community by its side. There will be no takers in the powers that be for keeping 3 seats reserved for the internally displaced Hindu community
in the state Assembly, feel most of the leaders also in the wake of the fact that this reservation has been sought from amongst the 46 Assembly seats from Kashmir Valley.

Sources also said that projecting this demand has come in for criticism within the party itself as some veterans look at it BJP trying to deviate from its stand and oft repeated assertions on dignified return of the community back to Valley and their resettlement in a safe environment. The demand has caused confusion and division among the Kashmir Pandit community as the regional parties from Kashmir have already started wooing the community members from potential constituencies where the community has sizable vote bank, in a couple , can prove decisive in victory of the candidates. As a sizable voters of Hindus from valley have loyalties also with the BJP and political aspirations too, the leadership of the party needs to make its stand clear rather than adding to confusion.
