Govt employee arrested for canvassing for BJP 4/11/2014 12:11:23 AM Asif Iqbal Naik Jammu, Apr 10: Jammu and Kashmir police claims to have arrested one government employee identified as Ashok Sharma son of Kunj Lal Sharma resident of House No.110 Roop Nagar Jammu for campaigning and canvassing in favour of Bhartiya Janta Party candidate Jugal Kishore Sharma in Akhnoor area of Jammu-Poonch-Rajouri parliamentary constituency which went polling today. While talking to Early Times, a senior police officer in Akhnoor confirmed registration of an FIR No. 69/2014 under section 137 (A,B,C) of Public Representation Act at police station Akhnoor. He said that on the basis of the specific information about involvement of government employee in canvassing voter for particular party rush to the spot and arrested the accused. The police officer said that after proper verification it was found that the accused was involved in wrong doing and his presence at the spot is not warranted in all respect as the accused was neither the resident of the area nor he was assigned with any job related to the election and hence was arrested in accordance to the law. It is worthwhile to mention here that Jammu-Poonch-Rajouri seat along with 91 other seats underwent polling in 3rd phase of the general election today and witnessed a record voter turnout of over 68%.   Share This News with Your Friends on Social Network     Comment on this Story
