Ex Congress Minister threatens ARO with goons, complaint lodged | | | Sumit Sharma Jammu, Apr 10: In the backdrop of the smooth conduct of polling in Jammu, a complaint against ex Congress Minister was lodged with Returning Officer, Jammu for threatening the Assistant Returning Officer, in R.S Pura, of dire consequences. As per reports, the incident took place after the polling process was over. The ex Congress Minister Suman Bhagat threatened the ARO, who happens to be the Sub Divisional Magistrate, in R.S Pura, of dire consequences, when he objected of her movement along with 12 other persons in a vehicle on suspicion ground. Earlier, ex Congress Minister entered in the office of the ARO and started arguing with him over the issue of polling agent at Polling Station 75/34 at Girls High Secondary School. As per complaint lodged to DC Jammu, who happens to be the Returning Officer, by ARO Rajinder Sharma, "ex-minister of Congress entered in verbal brawl with me over some issue of a polling agent. Later, she threatened me of dire consequences when I objected upon her movement along with 12 persons in a vehicle". Pertinently, R.S Pura witnesses 76.09 percent polling. SSP Jammu Atul Goel when contacted said that he had not received such complaint from DC Jammu and assured action as and when complaint letter forwarded to police. Meanwhile, polling remained interrupted in many areas of Rajouri and Poonch where scuffle between Congress, NC and PDP workers took place. Further polling at booth number 101 was boycotted by the residents of village Trichla for failure on the part of government to shift their polling station to village Dayala in Surankote. The polling at Mendhar remain suspended for hours after Sarpanch of Gursai Murdi along with NC supporters pelted stone on PDP workers, restricting them to reach polling stations number 98 and 99. The polling resumed after the intervention of tehsildhar Mendhar. |
