Board examination losing credibility in Kashmir, cheating too common | | | Shakeel Khan
SRINAGAR, July 10: What could be termed as the act of cheating, examination process in Kashmir valley has lost the credibility. Examinations conducted by State Board of School Education (BOSE) have become commercial exercise, benefitting the concerned officials. By establishing the examination centres at the doorsteps of the examinees, the education department is playing spoilsport. With no security arrangements in place around the examination centres, examination process has been turned into a circus. "Examination process in the Kashmir valley is hell of the exercises. Examination centres give the look of an election rally as lot of people accompany students. Some people even manage to go inside the center," said some people at Bemina Srinagar while talking to Early Times. These people went on saying that these days students don't need to prepare themselves for the examinations as according to them matter stands already resolved with the superintendents of the examination centres. Just concluded class 10th (private) bi annual examination presented the sad picture of the education department. The immediate premises of the examination centres wore a look as if the people are enjoying themselves in the Mughal gardens. People in the premises of these examination centres had the clear information as to which questions figured in the paper. This correspondent saw many youth around examination center. One of these youth could be heard talking to someone on phone that he has kept the material for copying at some place near the center very much known to the candidate. "The Board officials and the supervisory staff at the examination centres are in nexus with each other. Examination process has become the revenue collecting exercise for the people at the helm of affairs," said Tariq Ahmad from lawaypora while talking to Early Times. He went on saying that who is going to be the superintendent and which center he is going to be allotted, is for a particular lobby to decide because this lobby enjoys the patronage of the concerned authorities. People of the valley blame that the government has maintained a criminal silence over this growing menace. According to the people of the valley, this is no less than a disaster. As the people in power are busy in the election related activities, leaving the affairs of the examination to the persons with petty interests. "The mafia controlled examinations are for sure to produce an inefficient lot which will ruin the future of the nation. Not only this, it is going to aggravate the already existing unemployment problem," said Amir Ali from Srinagar. |
