ITI for Jammu, Rs 500 Cr for KPs rehabilitation, 500 Cr for Ladakh solar power project, 50 crore package for Kashmir Pashmina production | SOPS FOR JK | | Javaid Naikoo SRINAGAR, July 10: As the Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley today presented his maiden budget, Jammu and Kashmir got a major chunk of proposals in various fields including Rs 500 crore project for rehabilitation of Kashmiri migrant Pandits. As per the details collected, Finance Minister, Arun Jaitley while mentioning about the rehabilitation of migrant Kashmiri Pandits announced that a Rs 500 crore package has been allocated for rebuilding the lives of migrant Kashmiri Pandits who are living in various parts of the country after they were forced to leave the Kashmir since 1990 and onwards. The Narendra Modi led government has already flagged rehabilitation of Kashmiri migrant Pandits who left Kashmir after the onset of militancy in 1990. According to reports at present, 60,452 families of Kashmiri migrants are registered in the country, of which 38,119 are in Jammu, 19,338 in Delhi and 1,995 in other states. For Jammu people, Finance Minister announced the setting up of an IIT in Jammu, the winter capital of the state Fulfilling the long pending demand of people of Ladakh Finance Minister in his maiden budget allocated Rs 500 crore for establishing ultra modern solar power plants for five states including Ladakh District of Jammu and Kashmir. Solar project for Ladakh is strategy of India's planning to build the world's largest solar power project in Ladakh. The project will be able to generate 5,000 megawatts of power, which will be the biggest in India and the world. To boost sports talent of youth, the Finance Minister Arun Jaitley allocated a sum of Rs 200 crore in his first budget for the upgradation of stadiums in Jammu and Kashmir. The proposed project includes upgrading indoor and outdoor sports stadiums to the international standards in Jammu and Kashmir. Arun jaitley in his budget mentioned that Jammu and Kashmir has a lot of sporting talent which was not finding expression due to inadequate facilities and added that a sum of Rs 200 crore is being provided for upgrading indoor and outdoor stadiums to international standards in Jammu and Kashmir. Pashmina weavers of Kashmir who had been complaining of exploitation by middlemen and influx of fake weavers into the industry got a Rs 50 crore package to help Pashmina production of Jammu and Kashmir. Arun Jaitley in his budget has proposed to launch Pashmina Promotion Programme for the development of other arts and crafts of Jammu and Kashmir with a sum of Rs 50 crore earmarked for the same in the budget. |
