Beginning of the end of Sheikh family influence? | Omar day dreams in Gurez | | Early Times Report gurez-synvak, July 22: National Conference working president Omar Abdullah while addressing workers' conventions in Gurez and Naidkhai-Sumbal, has said that National Conference would script a historic victory in the Assembly elections as the people of J&K would continue to repose their faith in a party that has not only proven to be a bulwark that protects the State's political interests and regional aspirations but has also ensured unparalleled and unprecedented development across the length and breadth of the State in the last five and a half years. This has been equalled to day dreaming. Insiders reveal that Omar Abdullah is undecided as yet. He is scared about contesting from Ganderbal and most probably will surrender the traditional battle ground. Dr Farooq , the NC has made clear will not be contesting. It seems he has taken the defeat in the Lok Sabha elections to his heart. And with the Congress deciding to go alone in the Assembly elections, the NC is in real trouble. The NC has admitted the truth. Omar has gone out of way to woo the voters but the reports from ground are chocking. PDP has made deep inroads in what once used to be strong NC bastions. NC desperation came to fore the other day when scores of BLOs were transferred in violation of the guidelines of the Election Commission of India in Khanyar constituency where Ali Mohammad Sagar will fight it out with former trade union leader, Khurshid Alam. The fight in the Khanyar constituency has been described as the clash of titans by political experts. According to them, this constituency will decide the future of NC in Kashmir. Neither Sonawar, now Ganderbal is important for NC and the Sheikh Family. The coming elections, political observers believe will be the beginning of the end of Sheikh Family in Kashmir. |
