Who was operating ailing Ch Aslam's CDF? | | | Abodh Sharma JAMMU, July 22: With Congress stalwart and MLA Surnakot Choudhary Aslam critically ill for over last three years, letters of consent issued on his behalf for allocating funds under CDF have come under scanner and are indicating at a criminal breach of trust and misuse of public exchequer. Sources close to Ch. Aslam divulge that the MLA was seriously ill for the last three years and was immobile and confined for the last two years and was no way in a position to read or comprehend letters, let alone write them under his hand and seal. Under such circumstances, who has been issuing letters of allocation of funds for development works in the constituency under CDF of the ailing MLA has become an issue of serious investigation. Sources also disclose that funds close to Rs 6 crore have been allocated for different works allegedly under the fictitious signatures of the ailing MLA and have been honoured by the officers in the District Planning Office, who cannot be oblivious to the condition of the MLA. Meanwhile, fingers are being pointed at a close relative of the ailing MLA, who is a Government officer. "A close relative of Ch. Aslam who is a Government servant has been forging signatures of the ailing MLA for ulterior motives and a forensic analysis can clearly bring out the misdeed," said a source adding, "the panic has already gripped officers who have been part of the unholy nexus as they are apprehending that the scam could soon be unearthed." |
